How do you beat oxidative stress?



Antioxidant supplements can help a varied diet overcome the oxidative stress to which we are subjected everyday.

 

A good quality, balanced diet, combined with a healthy lifestyle is still the best method of correctly defending our organism against oxidative stress.

Antioxidants are essentially provided by fruits and vegetables which are particularly rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements and polyphenols. In order to reach the daily recommended doses for each of these antioxidants, you are advised to eat at least five different helpings of fruit and vegetables per day.

However, these recommendations seem to be far from reality. Indeed, several epidemiological surveys have shown that more than 20% of the population of industrialized countries never eats fruit. These figures seem alarming given the changes in our lifestyle and our increasing exposure to a wide range of exogenous sources of oxidative stress.

Under these conditions, a suitable antioxidant supplement would seem to be useful in preserving the fragile equilibrium existing between antioxidants and pro-oxidants.
